Creative Talent Passion

  Godwin Carmona

Godwin Carmona is a talented Singer/Songwriter. His debut work , you save me, is a moving tribute to the victims and the heroes of the September 11 tragedy.

"This song came to me as I thought of those victims of September 11th who in their last moments, called their loved ones to say good-bye and express their love. One man in particular – who left the following message for his wife on their answering machine – will always linger in my head: ‘Please be happy. Please live your life. That’s an order.’

I want to thank Tom & Yvonne Schuman as well as the rest of the JazzBridge Music Family for the opportunity to share this song. As we pass the one-year anniversary of this terrible tragedy, my hope continues that the words and melody of this tune will somehow be a source of solace and strength to all those coping with the sorrow of 9/11. September 11 was a dark, difficult day, but it was also a time that we witnessed such heroic words and deeds. It's to that memory I hope this song holds a candle."

Much Love,
Godwin Carmona,

- You Save Me -

(Music & Lyrics by Godwin Carmona) ©2001
Dedicated to the heroes and the victims of the September 11 attack
September 16, 2001, New York, NY

Verse 1
As I pass through this cruelest of nights
Compelled to ask if the world’s lost its mind
Just when I think I’m pinned in by the fright
All is still
And fears subside
‘cause I realize that…

Chorus
You save me
With the gift of love you gave
To hold my head up in the dark and

You save me
With the gift of love you gave to heal this heart

Verse 2
When I reel from the stories I’m told
Overcome as pictures take hold
Just when all I say seems a desperate reply
I find the will
And fears subside
‘cause I realize that…

Repeat Chorus

Verse 3
As I sift through the sadness that surrounds
Too numb, too broken to utter a sound
Just when I think I’m never coming ‘round
All is still
I have to try
‘cause I realize that…
